Dharmic or Indian Religions in Philosophy Forum, Dharmic Religion refers to religious traditions that originated in India and form a subgroup of the larger class of Eastern Religions.

Referred to as Sanātana Dharma, is the cultural religious tradition originating in Indian subcontinent, (South Asia, India, Pakistan, Bangledesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Sri Lanka). Hinduism is often said to be the oldest religious tradition and has no single founder. It is the worlds third largest religion following Christianity and Islam with the majority of it's followers living in India. The main divisions of Hinduism today are Vaishnavism, Shaivism, Smartism and Shaktism. Most Hindus believe that the spirit or the soul is eternal and come from diverse systems of thought including monotheism, polytheism, panentheism, pantheism, monism, and atheism.

Both a religion and a Philosophy based on the teachings of Gautama Buddha, more widely recognized as "the Buddha" which lived in the 5th century BCE in the northeastern region of India or ancient India, (Nepal). The concept of Buddhism encompasses Karma, Rebirth, Enlightenment, Dharma. The major texts of Buddhism are Pali Canon, Mahayana Sutras and the Tibetan Canon. The essence of the teachings of Buddha lie within the Four Noble Truths of understanding the cause of all suffering, escaping from suffering and the attainment of happiness.

Founded on the teachings of Nanak and 9 successive gurus in fifteenth century Northern India is the fifth largest Religion in the world. Sikhism comes from the term Sikh which comes from the Sanskrit meaning 'Disciple'. According to Sikhism, the goal of life for a person is to progress on a spiritual scale from Manmukh, or "self-centered", to Gurmukh, or "God-centered". Gurmukh implies the qualities of humility, selfless service, adhering to the teachings of Guru and not being a recluse. The texts of Sikhism is the Gurū Granth Sāhib and the Dasam Granth.

A small but influential, non-violent, ancient religion of India that embrace the tradition of scholarship and have the highest degree of literacy in modern India. Traditionally known as Jain Dharma / Shraman Dharma. Jains belief system is that all living things possess a soul and all life is worth of respect and emphasizes equality of life. Jainism encourages spiritual development through personal wisdom and self-control. Jains are followers of Jinas ('conquerors'), which are specially gifted humans who have rediscovered the Dharma, (Tirthankara) and taught the spiritual path for the benefit of all living creatures.
