yeah. the title sounds atheist, but it has nothing to do with go.

I have been thinking, If noone can see something that is not doing anything, does it exist at the moment. Like maybe that grass on your lawn right now. I bet no one is looking at. So is your lawn really there? what do u think?

@xris,
... right now I'm looking at the front of my computer monitor ... but I haven't seen the back of my computer monitor in years - is the back half really there? ... if I refuse to look and see, am I in control of whether or not the back half is really there or not? ... or does the spider who lives in the corner behind the monitor mean the back half of the monitor is still there? ... heck, for the spider it's the front half of the monitor who's existence is in question! ... and for the spider (who presumably doesn't arachnopormorphize spider-intelligence to the big pink blob on the other side of the monitor), there's probably no question - the front half of the monitor is not really there! Wink

@paulhanke,
the back of the monitor is visible to someone and the front is visible to you, therefore both sides exist. I am saying if nothing, even cameras, can not see it, it does ot exist.

you dont see your heart out in the open(hopefully you dont see that), but you have a heart that exists.

You are right, a glass door only exists when you walk into it, and not one second before..

It's not 'religion', it's science.

I would offer a slight reinterpretation of the statement, so;
Perception = existence.
Perceiver and perceived are One.
If anyone 'perceives' 'something' then it exists. It might not exist in my immediate (bit of the) 'universe', but that doesn't negate it's existence in the complete tapestry of the moment/universe!.
The complete definition of the universe, at any moment, is the sum total of all Perspectives (us)!

@DRgenius21,
I want everyone to notice how well these two do with typing even though they have clearly lost some fingers...

That reminds me of a story... I worked with a kid once, a son of a friend's brother; and that kid had lost two joints of his right index finger in a lawnmower as a child... He told me he like to ride in the car and when stopped at a red light act like he had those lost two joints shoved up his nose... Just so strangers would bug their eyes out seeing him...But he finally got tired of his mother seeing him and knocking his head into the back seat...

Dead grass decomposes so it's still doing something.

Decomposition is done to the grass even if we say it is decomposing... We decompose matter in our stomachs... It does not mean it is not real before or after it changes form..

Something needs to exist for something to be done to it.

Agreed; but I am not the one saying it does not exist because it is dead, or out of sight... I would not argue that -in regard to people, since we conceive of ourselves spiritually. I would argue that our being supports all existence, and because even the word existence would have no meaning without our being... Meaning is the essence of being... Things are, and not because we can see them, but because we can find meaning in what we see... There is a lot that we can see that has next to no meaning because while it is there, it has no effect on our lives, and our lives are our meaning, the source of all meaning... If a star in the sky suddenly went dark, unless that star were the sun, we might question its meaning until we would forget why we asked, but the meaning would be slight in every respect...
