My Metallica video submission declined

Without beating around the bush, I posted a music video IN the music video section of this sight.

I was told that it was respectfully declined. Which I appreciated a response as to no response.

For the sake of philosophy, what should be considered "productive material" and "non-productive material"?

the music video by the way was for the song "All Nightmare long" by Metallica.

Here's something.

Importance scale

Top The article is one of the core topics about philosophy. Generally, this is limited to those articles that are are included as sections of the main Philosophy article.

High
The article covers a topic that is vital to understanding philosophy.

Mid
The article covers a topic that has a strong but not vital role in the history of philosophy.

Low
The article is not required knowledge for a broad understanding of philosophy.

yes, no, maybe?

Re: My Metallica video submission declined

This video is one that I declined. It was declined because there is going to be future changes in the video section with what is going to be allowed. If we allowed something like Metallica videos on the Philosophy Forum video section, then we'd have to allow others like Britney Spears and Tupac or other music of the sort.

Does music like this belong on the PhilosophyForum.com? NO. Not in my opinion. If you wanted to discuss certain aspects of the video from a philosophy standpoint there is a place to do, but to make metallica a permenant video in the Philosophy Forum Collection.. . I don't think so. It wouldn't be long we'd be like youtube if everyone were allowed to submit videos they like.

The Philosophy Forum videos are going to be re-organized to only host tutorials and education vidoes and of course, member videos. That's the direction. If you want to watch a metallica video, there are plenty of places to do so.

Hopefully you understand the direction we are going. If it's not a direction that suitable for everyone, it's OK as we're not in the business of trying to attract everyone.

Thanks for understanding Joe and appreciate your being here and asking this question. Others feel free to respond.

NO music videos. The point is to have videos which are educational in a philosophical since. This isn't myspace. This is Philosophyforum.com. A place where people discuss philosophy.

Re: Productive

It think he may have been writing a response before reading my response because he posted right after. No worries. We all do that sometimes.

Re: Productive

I was actually joking, you people can be a little too serious sometimes.

Re: Productive

Thanks for the reply guys. I totally respect how everyone wants to run the site. I agree that subject matter relating to philosophy is what should be posted.

It was not made clear at first that the music section was going to be removed or changed. Now that i know this, I understand why it was not posted.

My only qualm, is if certain music was allowed and not others. But it seems you've answered that issue.

peace

Thanks Joe. The statement above actually answers the question in it's entirety. This is exactly what others would ask when they wanted to put Snoop Dog music on the forum.

I'm changing the title of this thread to reflect the actual content and then moving it into new member questions forum with a descriptive heading.
