Herodotus

I hope that this thread is not "off topic" in this section of forum...
I would like to share with you my doubts about the "father's of History", Herodotus statement:
"War, is father of everything"

Actually I do not know anything about Herodotus accept from reading Schopenhauer, who stated if you read Herodotus you have read enough of history.

Re: Herodotus

I just got finished with Herodotus' "History". As it became 'due' in my reading routine, I dreaded it; but WOW, very nice perspective and well told. If anyone enjoys reading well-told 'stories of yore' I'd wholeheartedly recommend it.

(far better than Thucydides' History... in which the reader feels like a ping-pong ball in a clothes dryer... ugh).

And there's a mess of insightful quotes sprinkled throughout his writings. For those who enjoyed "300", in this you'll find insights far beyond what the movie represented.
