Money

Everybody wants to be rich and have a large bank account filled with lots of money. I also used to feel this same way until recently. Some people spend their entire life looking for riches but the truth is no amount of money will ever be enough. I recently came to realize that money sucks and chasing after is blows too. I think its most important to figure out what it is you want in life and make that become a reality and not worry about money (Im talking career wise). Im tired of watching TV and watching all these pimped out shows where people show off their money. Also, Im tired of people talking about how much money they make and somehow they feel they are better than other people because they make more money. What do you guys think?

Re: Money

As a token of wealth that circumvents often unfair negotiations over 'possession', money has it's uses, and is a concept that could be justified as a benefit to members of society who are important yet incapable of sufficient aggression to make claims over things that 'should' be theirs. However, the all important 'should' is indicative of slavery; it has been justified with money (in modern capitalist democracy) that the manufacture of demographics and trade descriptions results in a cyclical system within which members are able to co-operate and produce and choose stylized icons. However, the unsustainable nature of this system, and the wanton ignorance and ineptitude of so many manifests a system that is corrupted by coercion, and we discover that the 'era' in co-operate is in fact currently missing. I'd say that 'bliss' has been co-opted as an icon at a pinnacle of capital wealth, and following xxarmoxx premise that chasing this dream is somewhat foolish, at least in terms of long-term sustainence (both of the natural environment/resources and social aptitude). Unfortunate as it is I doubt that society would ever be able to resist the existence of money, BUT I think of extreme importance is the destruction of exponential growth formats in consumerist-styled corporations.

Before I've advocated wage limits (I estimated £50,000 to be extreme wealth per year), but now I think that being payed for expenses of having to work is of most importance, so housing, food, medication are subject to choice, but that accruing vast quantities of money is out of order - and I doubt that visiting 5-star hotels, eating salty eggs, and riding high-class prostitutes in yachts is an essential facet of the 'financial administrators' physiology/psyche. To make an example, I believe that 'profit' is a form of theft, although if that profit is put back into the company (charity model) it makes a kind of loop-hole for expanding wealth, so a producer of monkey nuts is payed a rate that would both allow and force the sustainence and bliss of both the geographical localtion (land) and every member of the company - including the monkeys.

Re: Money

Nice, concur on almost all accounts.

It's always struck me, "as theft" that wealth is allowed to accumulate to such grotesque heights. Concentration of wealth - and the resulting diminishment of the middle class - has been one of the biggest ideological "thorns in my side" of the way my country operates, economically.

Good stuff, let's go change it all!

Re: Money

I completely agree. And I know that a lot of people around where I live who win the lottery and become millionaires end up spending it all and are forced to live in the streets because they quit their job. How does anybody spend 20mil, and not keep track of it?!

Re: Money

I used to dream too. But that was about one geological era ago.
Having money is not only a boon but also a burden. It gets in the way of becoming a better person.
The greatest I would ask is being delivered from worry. But perhaps even that is a decadent thing to ask.

Anything more is just fluff.

Re: Money

Money is an important part of society. It enables us to specialize and allows time for useful things like philosophy. Economic systems are useful. The problem is that economic systems can distort value and become separate from what they are intended, which is to simplify and facilitate resource distribution. I am well pleased that I can have salt even though I don’t have to produce it myself. The perversion of monetary systems happens from greed and immorality.

I for one agree something is horribly wrong when economics allow some to have so much power and material things and others are forced to exist in some sort of real world hell for lack of the necessities.

Personally I feel that we should move to establish a quality of life economy, a system that is sort of a mix of capitalism and socialism. A system that still rewards risk and hard work but sets a level of wealth that no one goes beyond and likewise a minimum quality of life that takes steps to ensure no one (or as few as possible) slip below. It diminishes us all to have others be deformed mentally and physically by lack of necessities. And I don’t mean just some hand out welfare system. We can come up with a system that allows people to have the dignity they deserve by ensuring that they contribute on some level. But this would require a paradigm shift of immense proportions.

Re: Money

Sometimes money is such a fog. Those who control most if, lead us any way they choose. Unfortunately, What does a person want, who has more money then they care to count. Power. The domination of others. Who are these people? Maybe some of you have heard of them, but most haven't. And thats the way they want it. Secrecy, at such high levels of power almost insures these people to run the world in which they see fit. Good for them, Bad for you.

This is an incorrect assertion/assumption; it must be 'hyperbole'.
('Charity' is, as I know it, not taking more than your share of resources; money, clothes, food, water, wood, gas, etc...)
