It was nieve of me to use the word value to somehow describe meaning. I guess I made some correlation between the meaning of everything else and the value of life.

Life the only value gives all things meaning. Life has no meaning! There is no underlying significance or universal purpose. Life just is. When everything else has lost its meaning and purpouse then life has no value in and of itself. So then it is the value of everything else that gives life meaning.

I started out OK and then my statement got circular. Help please.
If I tell you live is meaning, and life is the ultimate value that gives all thing value, I am only stating the obvious. There is a reason behind it, perhaps even a philosophy of sorts, but it is not reasonable, or based upon reason.

Each of us face our lives with an instinctual affection. Primitives, like moderns, cling to their lives and feel there is nothing else. When higher values are put forward they too involve life: the life of the community, or eternal life. Death is the defeat of all of us, and a part of our will to live is our sense that death ends all, ends meaning, and ends reality.

This is a paragraph from a literary review I wrote and posted on my website. (Please see my recent introductory note regarding my proof of a creator.) The story I reviewed concerned a young, disillusioned Iraq War veteran:

Many years ago, a national news magazine asked people prominent in all walks of life: “What is the meaning of life?” The only answer of many that indelibly marked my consciousness was that given by famed comedian Jackie Mason. He answered, “No meaning. What meaning does a dance have?” I found Mr. Mason’s response to be both extremely interesting and enlightening. Curiously, as Mr. Mason is a former rabbi, I thought his answer reflected the underlying metaphysical basis of those Eastern religions usually referred to as being pantheistic. Brahman dances and then rests. Then the dance begins anew in the eternal cycle of existence: the eternal is. The only meaning is the dance itself. It is all there is or will ever be: "I AM WHO AM."

It could be that looking for meaning everywhere it ain't is what makes people rich and famous, and makes others consider them prominent.

If you are talking to me I have plenty of both. If I could get a nickle an ounce for either I would be wealthy beyond my wildest dreams of avarice.

A guide to help find the meaning that you seek

The meaning of life is pointless, the only point it has is the point that you give it.

Also the meaning of life is what you say it is, therefore you make what you say the meaning of life, is to your self correct and truly meaning full to your self.

Yet other's would not see it from your exact point of view and perception of that point of view, so therefore the meaning of life that you create would only have meaning or importance to your self.

It's better to find the concept that define's all other meaning's within it's self, one that applie's to all other things.

(the meaning of the word life, is the physical world and mental world around us, and the thing's we can and cannot do within the physical and mental world's within any given point of perceptable time.)

you could also say that life is everything, and there for it is also nothing, yet nothing is still somthing and that somthing would be life...

Just try to find a meaning to life, that would bring you closer to the ways how you want to live your life.

Mainly my point of view and perception of the meaning of life is a guide to help other's define what it mean's for them, so there own meaning that they give it can quench there thirst for what they seek and desire within there life.

(hence it's not my life to define)...it's your's

leables,

There is no meaning, it is alot of protoplasma with a urge to reproduce, the concept of meaning could never do this strange existence justice.

leables,

Your worldview (how you see the world) will greatly influence your view of the meaning of life.

If you believe that the essence of man is the physical body and there is no afterlife, then your idea of the meaning of life will be something to the effect of "he who dies with the most toys wins" or "live it up while you're still here"
If you believe that the essence of man is metaphysical and eternal, you will want to use this life to make some lasting contribution to society and prepare yourself for your existence after this life is over.
