Adaptation to chaos would look to the adapted to be order, any imperfection in that preception might be handled with humor, an outrageous acception to the rule of order.

I always saw it rather more in terms of humour being a possible consolation in the face of the impossibility of adaption.

It's all absurd, so why not find it funny - that sort of thing.

Indeed, if you have not or cannot develop a sense of humor, it makes life all the more difficult, perhaps laughter itself is adaptation------just a thought.
