Warhol/Picasso

"Being born is like being kidnapped. And then thrown into slavery." -Andy Warhol

"Only leave until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone." -Pablo Picasso

I think both of these are absolutely brilliant. With Warhol's it's talking about how culture and society sort of control what we think, feel, and believe, hence the slavery aspect. I think of this when I feel overwhelmed by the expectations others have of me. Also, Picasso's quote, I try to live by, because you never really know when you're not going to have the next day to do something you always meant to do.

Re: Warhol/Picasso

Warhol commonly used hired help to produce his silkscreens in his "art factory".

I can't find the quote on the Internet, but Warhol said something along the lines of: "Picasso said he could make a masterpiece a day. I can make 100 masterpieces in an hour."

Speaking of these guys, whatever happened to good artists with personalities?

Re: Warhol/Picasso

I've heard that Warhol quote a few times before. Personally, I'm a fan of his work - but the whole factory production of art worries me.
