A Request For Understanding #1

Posted 02-27-2010 at 02:52 PM by No0ne

Q: What is money?

A: "Money" is the physical representation of time and effort, whether such is physical, or mental, or any combination of both.

Example: The value of money of a natural diamond is greater than a artificial diamond due to the fact that the physical/mental effort and time involved in locating, excavation, and refinement (all of which translate to its rarity and its supply and demand) are greater than a artificial diamond.

And turn ye not aside; for then should ye go after vain things, which cannot profit...

If I Were King

If I were king-ah, love, if I were king-
What tributary nations would I bring
To stoop before your sceptre and to swear
Allegiance to your lips and eyes and hair;
Beneath your feet what treasures I would fling:-
The stars should be your pears upon a string,
The world a ruby for your finger ring,
And you should have the sun and moon to wear,

If I were king.
Let these wild dreams and wilder words take wind,
Deep in the woods I hear a shepherd sing
A simple ballad, to a sylvan air,
Of love...

(*note I no longer post my own poems on the internet.)

Life's Mirror

There are loyal hearts, there are spirits brave,
There are souls that are pure and true;
Then give to the world the best you have,
And the best will come back to you.

Give love, and love to your life will flow,
A strength in your utmost need;
Have faith, and a score of hearts will show
Their faith in your work and deed.

Give truth, and your gift will be paid in kind,
And honor will honor meet;
And the smile which is sweet will...

Light Shining Out Of Darkness
By, William Cowper

God moves in a mysterious way
His wonders to preform;
He plants his footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill
He treasures up his bright designs,
And works his sovereign will.

Ye fearful siants, fresh courage take!
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust him for his grace;...

"Baby" By George Macdonald

Where did you come from, baby dear?
Out of the everywhere into here.

Where did you get your eyes so blue?
Out of the sky as I came through.

What makes the light in them sparkle and spin?
Some of the starry spikes left in.

Where did you get that little tear?
I found it waiting when I got here.

What makes you forehead so smooth and high?
A soft hand stroked it as I went by.

What makes your cheek like a warm white rose?
I saw something better...

A Poem Called "Retribution" By Henry Wadsworth Longfellow.

Though the mills of God grind slowly,
Yet they grind exceeding small;
Thought with patience he stands waiting,
With exactness grinds he all.

A Poem Called "Waiting" By John Burroughs.

Serene, I fold my hands and wait,
Nor care for wind, or tide, or sea;
I rave no more 'gainst Time or Fate,
For, lo! my own shall come to me.

I stay my haste, I make delays,
For what avails this eager pace?...

This is a poem by Walt Whitman (1819-1892) called Good-Bye My Fancy, which I wish to share.

Good-bye my fancy
I had a word to say,
But'tis not quite the time-
The best of any man's word or say,
Is when its the proper place arrives-and for its meaning,
I keep mine till the last.

(this poem has had no alterations, besides the reformating into a line to line format.)

(Also #'s 1,3,6 of the Another's Word's project are my favorite's

This is a poem by Walt Whiteman (1819-1892) called A Noiseless Patient Spider, which I wish to share. (enjoy)

A noiseless patient spider,
I mark'd where on a little promontory it stood isolated,
Mark'd how to explore the vacant vast surrounding,
It launch'd forth filament, filament, filament, out of itself,
Ever unreeling them, ever tirelessly speeding them.

And you O my soul where you stand,
Surrounded, detached, in measureless oceans of space,
Ceaselessly musing, venturing, throwing, seeking the spheres to connect them,...

This is a poem by HerMan Melville (1819-1891) from The Inscription, which I wish to share.

Emblazoned bleak in austral skies-
A heaven remote, whose starry swarm
Like science lights but cannot warm-
Translated Cross, hast thou withdrawn,
Dim paling too at every dawn,
With symbols vain once counted wise,
And gods declined to heraldries?
Estranged, estranged: can friend prove so?
Aloft, aloof, a frigid sign:
How far removed, thou tree divine,
Whose tender fruit did reach so low-
Love apples of New-Paradise!

This is a poem by JoyCe Kilmer (1888-1918) called Trees, which I wish to share. (enjoy)

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

A tree whose hungry mouth is prest
Against the earth's sweet flowing breast;

A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;

A tree that may in Summer wear
A nest of robins in her hair;

Upon whose bosom snow has lain;
Who intimately lives with rain.

Poems are made by fools like me,
But only God can make a tree....
